1967 Chevrolet Corvette - The Only Known Black/Blue 435 HP Convertible 1 Corvette aficionados take note: this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is the only one of its kind known to exist with its combination of Tuxedo Black paint, blue Stinger, Bright Blue interior, side exhaust and L71 427/435 HP big-block V-8. Driven only 35,426 original miles and on its no-hit body, it is a multiple-award winner, garnering Bloomington Gold Certification and multiple NCRS Top Flight Awards, never scoring any lower than 98.8 percent in judged events.

The car has been extensively researched and documented by a select few owners throughout its life, who together have determined its singular rarity as one of four authenticated Tuxedo Black-and-Bright Blue Corvettes of any configuration produced for model-year 1967, and the only one with side exhaust. The original trim tag reveals the car's provenance with paint-code 900 Tuxedo Black and trim-code 414 Bright Blue.

Letters from previous owners provide the foundation for the car's known ownership history. The NCRS shipping data report shows the car was sold new at H.O.B. Motors in North Plainfield, New Jersey. The first known owner of record is Jeff Tripp of New Jersey, who purchased the car in 1967. Tripp paid $2,850 for the car, which was still equipped with its original 427/435 HP engine and Bright Blue interior. In the early 1980s, Tripp's wife kept the car as part of the divorce settlement and she sold the car to Joe Fenimore in 1985. Later in 1985, Fenimore took the car to a swap meet at Englishtown Raceway, where it was spotted by Don Jerie. He quickly called his friend Bob Caruso of Alpine, New Jersey and they acquired the car immediately.

According to a signed letter from Caruso, Peter Brown of New Jersey purchased the car from him in 1985. In 1990, Brown commissioned Caruso to perform a frame-off restoration, which took two years to complete. Caruso's letter states, "When the body was pulled off the frame, we found what was left of the original build sheet glued to the top of the gas tank." The tank and build sheet were photographed and then wrapped in plastic and given to Brown for safekeeping. After the restoration, the car was displayed at Bloomington Gold in 1992 for the 1967 Corvette's "Silver Salute" and later judged at an NCRS meet in 1994, where it earned its first Top Flight award. By 1996, Brown sold the car to Harvey Ely, who retained ownership until 2002. The next owner, David Borror, commissioned Al Grenning to inspect the car's engine stamping and trim tag for authenticity. Borror then purchased the car in 2002 and during his stewardship, the car earned Bloomington Gold certification as well as Regional and National NCRS Top Flight awards before being sold to its current owner. Bob Caruso recalls attending an NCRS Seminar at the Delaware Valley Chapter meet where Al Grenning featured the engine pad of this car (108606) as a factory-original "double stamp" in his examples of original factory stamps.

One of the most significant new options for that year, the L71 was the most potent of the 427 CI engine options, with three Holley 2-barrel carburetors feeding through an aluminum intake, a hot solid-lifter cam, transistor ignition and 11.0:1 compression. Backed with the 4-speed manual transmission and 4.11:1 rear end featured in this example, the combination was one of the most powerful and sturdy powertrains ever installed in the Corvette, and in this case all are original to the car, the engine never having been disassembled.

In addition to boasting the most desirable color and driveline combinations of the most desirable model year, the "Black 'N Blue" car incorporates N14 Side Mount Exhaust System, A02 Soft Ray-tinted windshield, A82 headrests, power windows, AM/FM radio, black soft top and Rally wheels with Goodyear Blue Streak Speedway tires. It is important to note that the original tires have been carefully stored and preserved and are included with the car.

Extensive documentation is offered with this stunning, exclusive multiple-award winner, including a portion of the original tank sticker on the original gas tank and the original intact trim tag.
