1963 Corvette Model Year Changes:
Mechanical Changes:
- 4-speed manual transmissions manufactured by Borg-Warner changed to Muncie.
- New ladder-type frame replaced old X-brace type.
- New independent rear suspension.
- Avaiable hydraulic-assist steering.
- Available air conditioning.
- New electrical alternator.
Exterior Changes:
- First coupe available
- Split rear window
- Hidden headlights
- Fake fender and hood louvers, vents on roof side panels
- Stainlees steel trim ahead of the roof panel side vents
- Fiberglass headlight buckets
- Rooler-type catch for gas filler door. Later production versions used nylon side catches.
- Rectangular hood trim panels
- New, taller outside rearview mirror with shorter base introduced midway of 1963 production.
- New colors available: Daytona Blue, Riverside Red, Saddle Tan, Sebring Silver, Silver Blue
Interior Changes:
- New twin-cowl dash
- Increased storage space
- Round, black faced gauges
- 20-gallon fuel tank
- New hinged deck emblem - fuel filler cap
