Notes: | From ProTeam sale advertisement in May of 2001: "...numbers match, VIN #281. Polo White paint with Sportsman Red interior and Black soft top. Body off restored. Bloomington Gold certified. Ohh... La La! Believed to be one of the less than 100 remaining 1953's in existence. Optioned with Wonderbar radio, e-brake warning light, windshield washers, courtesy lights, heater, hubcaps, and Firestone 6.70x15 inch wide white tires. Most all factory correct components. Documented with copies of the Bloomington Gold judging sheets. With the year 2003 just around the corner and the 50th anniversary of the Corvette, this 1st generation baby doll will surely be a sought after vehicle, as this example is believed to be one of less than 100 remaining 1953s in existence. Looks, runs, and drives excellent. CC:1/+2 $110,000.00" This car was originally for sale by ProTeam Corvette Sales in Napoleon, Ohio in May of 2001. The new owner, Al Hill, contacted us with the following information on March 23, 2002: "This car received NCRS Top Flight at Bowling Green in 1983. NCRS Top Flight at Copper Moutain in 1984, and Bloomington Gold in 1984. This car is the featured 53 car in Automboile Quarterly's "CORVETTE - An American Legned - The Gold-Certified Cars of Bloomington: 1953-1967". This car was one of ten 1953 Corvettes owned by John Moores, who donated a total of 26 cars (including the ten 1953 Corvettes ) to the Scripps Research Institute." |
